What the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit Means

Beginning January 1, 2027, eligible taxpayers can receive a 100% federal tax credit for donations of up to $1,700 annually to qualified scholarship-granting organizations.

Those donations can fund scholarships that help families pay for tuition, tutoring, transportation, educational therapies, curriculum, and other qualifying educational expenses.

For schools and organizations, the new law creates an unprecedented opportunity to expand scholarship funding—without taking on the administrative burden of operating an SGO yourself.
