CSF Celebrates School Choice Week with Parent Power Event

Last week, CSF celebrated National School Choice Week 2022 with a Parent Power webinar featuring an interview with parent advocate Virginia Walden Ford, conversations with CSF parents and principals from New York CIty and New Hampshire, video testimonials, and a raffle drawing.

Virginia Walden Ford, or Miss Virginia as she is known to fans of the Netflix movie based on her story of leading a grassroots effort to pass the 2003 DC Opportunity Scholarship Program, was a big hit with everyone watching. She explained her motivation for becoming a school choice advocate and urged parents in the audience to join her, saying:

“Parents are amazing. Parents are the rock of school choice. We are the ones that fight for our babies to have a better educational experience in this country. …My fears of speaking just went away when I realized that my voice could make a difference. And that’s what most of us don’t know. We don’t realize that our voices make changes, they make a difference.”

Also last week, a set of triplets who are CSF Scholars were spotlighted in School Choice Week’s official kickoff video featuring students from every state in the union. Thank you, Azalea, Grayson, and Isla, for representing CSF and New York so well! You can spot them at the 6:13 mark of the video here.
