Young Leaders Board Members Advise CSF Alumni Virtually

Watch the first of a series of Zoom calls with CSF Young Leaders Board members advising CSF alumni on college and careers.

Over the summer, members of CSF’s Young Leaders Board offered guidance to CSF alumni through a series of Zoom webinars focused on preparing for college and careers, sharing their own experiences and answering questions from alumni now in high school and college.

Below are some of the words of wisdom shared by the panelists.

“Take advantage of all the opportunities college has to offer and don’t compare yourself to anyone. We all have our journey.”

“Don’t be afraid to take hard classes and make sure to ask your professors for help if you need it.”

“I wasn’t the best student and didn’t have anything figured out when I got to college. So don’t worry about that – you’ll figure out what does or doesn’t work for you. Visit colleges, do your research, try different classes, and see what clicks for you.”

“Because you have more time, learning time management is very important in college and even after. Create a schedule for yourself, and plan in advance. It takes pressure off of you.”

“Manage your expectations, try new things, and ask yourself what you want to get out of college. Then adjust accordingly.”

“Don’t be afraid to raise your hand and ask for an opportunity, vocalize your interests.”

“Surround yourself with great people, and don’t forget to be kind everywhere you go. You never know where your next opportunity will come.”
